Personal Banker

Job Objective (Purpose of the position):
Primary responsibility is to acquire new customer relationship to the bank and grow product penetration of current customers. Profiles customer to open new accounts, cross-sell loans, additional depository products and services.  Provides customer service and resolves customer problems. Assist Branch Manager in educating staff on new products/cross-selling, loan portfolio managements, taking loan applications, discussing rate options, scheduling appointments, attainment of expected sales goals assigned by manager.  Assist in the day-to-day management of branch operations to ensure efficiency and compliance of procedures and policies. Assist Tellers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.    Generate new customer leads through the use of cold calling new customers and business, profiling current customers and businesses for additional needs and responding to referrals from internal and external sources
2.    Greet customers, answer customer inquiries; take customer service phone calls. Overall provide a friendly, pleasant and professional environment in which to conduct bank business
3.    Open and close deposit accounts, including Individual Retirement Account (IRA), STAR/Debit card, Discount Brokerage Accounts and process transactions. Advise customers on lending products and benefits of all bank products
4.    Follow-up on new households to extend further services and insure customer satisfaction and retention.
5.    Assist the Assistant Community Banking Manager with customer contacts, questions and portfolio management.
6.    Work with Internet Banking Customers, specifically bill pay and cash management, including account maintenance and customer calls.
7.    Explain and follow new services and/or provide follow-up training at the branch level.
8.    Ensure that established policies and procedures are followed in areas supervised.
9.    Sign cashier’s checks based on established limits and grant approval or denial of foreign checks.
10.    Obtain daily/weekly rate schedules and discuss rate options as needed.


ACCOUNTABILITY/GOALS
1.    Responsible achieving individual sales goals for bank products and growing the branch profitability and balance sheet
2.    Ensure branch customers receive an excellent level of customer service and comply with the established customer experience procedures.
3.    Maintain knowledge of all bank products and assist in training branch colleagues on product knowledge


Non-essential Functions (Marginal tasks performed by incumbent of the position):
1.    Provide some clerical services to the office.
2.    Community service/involvement.

General Description ( A descriptive account of how this job is done to someone who has never done it):
The major responsibility of someone in this position is spent meeting with current customers and prospects (50%) and providing customer service (30%). About 20% of one’s time is devoted to functions related to the operation of the office such as account/portfolio maintenance.  The majority of the time, about 70% is spent sitting, 20% of the time is spent walking and 10% standing.

1.    Specialized training in a business discipline acquired through up to 18 months of education and training beyond high school.  Most likely acquired through college, university or business school attendance or equivalent experience.

6.    Successful completion of Bank’s training program(s).
7.    3-5 years prior banking/business experience.

Head Teller

Status: Full Time (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-TR; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fri.; 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sat.; Day off as assigned)
Job Objective (Purpose of the position):
Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, provide a variety of customer service functions including processing savings accounts, checking accounts, loan transactions, cashing checks, and selling money orders and cashier’s checks.  Responsible for balancing each day’s transactions and verifying cash totals.  Promote bank products and specials and refer customer for additional bank products to meet their financial needs. Assists tellers with complex balancing and other work related problems.  Prepare Teller Reports as necessary. Coach tellers on the daily product referral process.

Essential Job Functions (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):
1.    Greet customers in a courteous, professional manner while providing prompt, efficient, accurate service in processing transactions.
2.    Receives account deposits and loan payments.  Verify amounts, examine checks for endorsement and negotiability, collect appropriate fees and process transactions.
3.    Cash checks and process account withdrawal requests after verifying signatures and determining negotiability and availability.
4.    Take application for Savings Bonds, issue cashier’s checks, money orders and traveler’s checks.
5.    Effective operation of teller and bank software.
6.    Promote and refer customers for additional banking products to meet their financial needs
7.    Balance ATM.
8.    Comply with Bank Policy and Procedures for Safe Deposit Box and Cash Advances.
9.    Assist other tellers with processing transaction and balancing.
10.    Schedule, evaluate, direct the day to day activities, and assist with balancing.
11.    Oversee the maintenance of the vault in accordance with established operating procedures.
12.    Comply with Bank Policy and Procedures for security.
13.    Prepare teller reports as necessary.
14.    May assume responsibility for the office in the temporary absence of management.
15.    May be responsible to open and close deposit accounts, including Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA), MAC/Debit Card and Discount Brokerage Accounts.

General Description (A descriptive account of how this job is done to someone who have never done it):
The major responsibility of someone in this position (about 40 of one’s time) is spent supervising, scheduling, evaluating and directing the day to day activities of assigned staff.  About 20% of one’s time is devoted to overseeing the maintenance of the vault.  About 30% of their time is spent running a teller window.  About 10% of one’s time is devoted to balancing.  The 20% of the time is spent sitting, 60 % of the time is spent standing and 20% walking.   Must lift bulk coin (up to 30 lbs.) and cash drawer (up to 15 lbs.).
